In a post-apocalyptic world that’s overrun by rotting, vicious, cannibalistic creatures of the night, you alone have been tasked to eliminate the hordes of zombies using the best weapons, equipment, and technology humanity has to offer.
That is the premise of ZAlert – Zombie Survivors where you’ll be able to unlock and choose from a wide variety of weapons and equipment before being thrown into a Bulletstorm style of combat inside arenas chock-full of zombies.
There, you can then choose skills that will boost your overall killing power or resource collection.

In this guide, we will discuss all the information you need to know about ZAlert – Zombie Survivors’ gameplay mechanics, as well as several tips that’ll help you become the zombie hunter that post-apocalyptic Earth needs.
Basic Mechanics, Gameplay & Features
Listed below are ZAlert’s gameplay, controls, and features that you must first learn and understand to become a better zombie slayer.
Combat

ZAlert – Zombie Survivors follows the basic combat concepts that most other roguelike games abide by, such as simple movement controls, auto-fire, collecting EXP to level up and learn new skills, and upgrading the same skills to get a better version of them.
EXP is displayed as small orbs on the battlefield that vary in color (purple, blue, orange, etc.) that allow you to level up and choose a skill if you collect enough, while Gold is displayed as gold coins that you can then take with you once the battle is over.

There are two types of skills you can learn during combat in ZAlert – Zombie Survivors:

Guns are your primary way of dealing damage in ZAlert – Zombie Survivors. They have no cooldowns during combat and they also influence how much damage your skills do against your enemies.
The same goes for Drones, but they provide less damage boosts compared to weapons.
Aside from the MP5 which you get by default at the start of the game, you can unlock ten more guns after clearing certain stages (i.e. Days) during your playthrough.

You can level up your guns using Gold, then increase their max levels by ranking them up using Weapon Chips. Doing either of these will increase your gun’s damage during combat.
TIP: You can unlock some guns such as the Laser Gun and the Gatling Gun without any restrictions by buying them with IRL cash. They’re two of the most powerful guns in the game, so feel free to buy them right away if you don’t mind spending.
Equipment

If your guns dictate how much damage you do during combat, your equipment, on the other hand, mainly improves your overall HP and survivability, but they also offer slight damage boosts.
Not only that, but they also give you a variety of unique buffs such as increased critical rate, reduced attack cooldowns, improved movement speed, or damage reduction.

You can get equipment pieces after clearing combat stages or by pulling them from Equipment Chests. Here are the rates for each equipment rarity in Common Chests and Premium Chests:

You can also purchase skins for your character in ZAlert – Zombie Survivors with Diamonds. Aside from the default skin, changing your character’s skin improves your stats and resource collection.
There are four skins you can use in the game:

There are three main currencies that you must keep an eye on while playing ZAlert – Zombie Survivors:
- Gold: Allows you to buy, level up, and rank up your guns and equipment.
- Diamonds: Allows you to open chests, buy energy and gold, as well as purchase skins. It is the premium currency of the game.
- Energy: Allows you to clear stages/Days or instantly claim multiple hours of AFK Gold rewards.

On a related note about currencies, keep in mind that this game also employs an AFK reward system where you can claim a set amount of rewards per minute depending on how much you’ve progressed.
If you’re in a pinch and need extra Gold for an important upgrade, remember that you can either watch an ad or spend 15 Energy to gain six hours’ worth of AFK rewards!
Seven Best Tips For ZAlert – Zombie Survivors
If you want to slay zombies as quickly and efficiently as you can in ZAlert, here are some of the best tips that you should follow to avoid pitfalls and mistakes that might slow down your account’s progression.
Tip #1: Never Stay Still During Battle
Photo: Imba
The number one rule for most Bulletstorm games is that you must never stop moving, and this rule is very much true for ZAlert – Zombie Survivors.
This is especially useful when you’re fighting an enemy boss, as bosses will utterly wreck you if they catch you immobile or, at the very least, inattentive. You can avoid almost all of their attacks just by moving in any direction.

Moreover, if you’re always on the move, you’ll be able to pick up more Gold coins, EXP, and Power-ups, which improves your chances of clearing the stage.
If you’re having trouble getting away from enemies just by moving around in ZAlert, it might be wise to either equip items that give you additional Movement Speed or pick up the “Skateboard” passive skill.
Tip #2: Increase Your Gold Gain Whenever You Can
Photo: Imba
The best thing you can do for your account, especially in the early game when the enemies are still relatively weak, is to get the “Cheque” passive skill whenever you can, which increases your gold gain.
Keep in mind that while you can pick up several items during combat in ZAlert, gold coins are the only items that matter in the long run, as you can use them outside of combat. Hence, it is very much worth it to increase your gold gain.
If you’re having trouble clearing a stage with limited skill upgrades, however, do feel free to pick other skills instead of fully upgrading the “Cheque” passive skill.
Tip #3: Prioritize Upgrades Over New Skills

Another thing you must keep very well in mind during combat is that one fully upgraded Ultimate skill will outperform five different low-level skills. This is why you should prioritize maxing out one good skill over getting new ones.
Generally, most (if not all) Active Skills are worth maxing out, but here are the ones we recommend out of all of them:
- Sawblade
- Laser Emitter
- Rocket Launcher
For Passive Skills, it mainly depends on what Active Skills you have. While picking skills, you should pay attention to the “EVO” icons below a Passive Skill to know which Active Skills they improve.
Otherwise, Cheque and Power Bullet are the best Passive Skills to max out if we’re talking about general usage, so upgrade these two if you don’t know which Passive Skills to prioritize.
Tip #4: Clear Your Daily Quests

Aside from relying on the AFK reward system, claiming the rewards from completing daily missions is one of the most consistent ways to get Gold in ZAlert – Zombie Survivors.
You can naturally clear most of these quests just by playing the game daily, so just remember to at least play a few games every day to take full advantage of this system.

On the other hand, you get Diamonds by completing Achievements in ZAlert. These tasks are tied mainly to your account progression, so there’s no way to get these rewards quickly, unlike Daily Quest rewards.
Nevertheless, being consistent in playing ZAlert still helps in getting Achievement rewards, as most of them are unlock-type tasks that can only be completed after heaps of playtime
Tip #5: Always Watch Ads After Every Battle
Photo: Imba
Despite the universal hate for unsolicited, unskippable ads, we still highly recommend watching ads every time you clear a Day or a stage in Alert – Zombie Survivors.
This is because doing it will essentially quadruple the amount of Gold you’ve earned, allowing you to spend way more on Gun upgrades and Equipment upgrades.
To give you a perspective, that’s two to three several-minute-long stages you don’t have to clear if you watch ads, so you’ll save yourself tons of time grinding for Gold if you do it!
Tip #6: Don’t Forget To Claim Your Free Weapon & Weapon Chip Boxes
Photo: Imba
Also by watching some ads, you can claim Equipment Chests and Weapon Chip Chests in the Shop, which you absolutely shouldn’t miss.
After all, Equipment pieces and Weapon Chips are among the most valuable and rarest items in the game.
You can open one Common Equipment Chest and Common Weapon Chip Chest per day in ZAlert and one Legendary Equipment Chest and Legendary Weapon Chip Chest per week.
Tip #7: Rank Up Weapons Only When Necessary In The Early Game
Photo: Imba
When it comes to farming-intensive roguelite games like ZAlert: Zombie Survivors, it would be very wise to save up some rare items—especially if they are used for strengthening specific types of equipment.
In this game, this rule applies specifically to Weapon Chips, which can be a very hard resource to farm, and very much so if you’re just a beginner.
Photo: Imba
The scarcity of Weapon Chips and the fact that all guns use the same resource as upgrade material in ZAlert are the two main reasons why you should consider not ranking up your guns right away.
At the very least, try to clear up to Day 20 before deciding which gun to invest most of your Weapon Chips in. By then, you’ll have access to four different gun types and are most likely familiar with their play style already.
Conclusion
Despite being one of the more entertaining RPG survival-style Bulletstorm games, ZAlert – Zombie Survivors doesn’t bring anything particularly new to the genre, but it does offer its players a slightly different, yet fun experience.
It has smooth combat gameplay, a decent variety of weapons and skills, an AFK reward system, as well as a gacha mechanic that may or may not be attractive depending on your tastes.
